Dato’ Dr. Munirah Looi has been appointed as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), effective 17 November 2025.
A distinguished entrepreneur and leader, Dato’ Dr. Munirah brings over four decades of experience in digital and customer engagement transformation, business strategy, and sustainable development. She holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Wales, United Kingdom, with a specialisation in Human Resource Management, and has served in numerous leadership roles across global business services, start-ups, telecommunications, finance & banking, and e-commerce sectors.
Dato’ Dr. Munirah served as Regional Chief Executive Officer for Southeast Asia at BlueOnion, a fintech company advocating ethical investment and sustainability. She was also appointed as a Board Member of MyDIGITAL Corporation and as a Member of the Executive Committee for the Malaysia Centre of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (MYCentre4IR) under the World Economic Forum.
Prior to her role at BlueOnion, Dato’ Dr. Munirah was the Founder & Strategic Advisor of Brandt Business Services, a digital transformation and customer experience (CX) outsourcing firm, which she successfully led for 21 years before exiting in January 2025.
Her corporate journey includes key leadership roles at Citibank, where she became the first woman appointed as Vice President and Total Quality Director before advancing to a global position as Customer Experience Director in New York. She also served as Senior Vice President and Chief Human Performance Strategist at SCICOM (MSC) Sdn Bhd, leading quality management and organisational development initiatives across the Asia Pacific region.
Beyond her corporate contributions, she remains actively involved in talent and leadership development as a Trustee of Yayasan Tunku Abdul Rahman (YTAR) and has held leadership positions in industry organisations such as PIKOM, GBS Malaysia, and the CRM & Contact Centre Association of Malaysia (CCAM).
Her significant contributions to industry and society have earned her multiple prestigious awards, including the APEA Master Entrepreneur Award (2021), Distinguished Women Entrepreneur Lifetime Achievement Award (2022), and an Honorary Doctor of Laws from the University of Nottingham (2023), in recognition of her outstanding service to business, technology, and the community.
