Prior to his career in corporate leadership, Razif Abdul Aziz cut his teeth in legal advisory roles, government regulatory affairs and foreign trade.
A senior executive with over 23 years of experience in various sectors that include defence, construction, FMCG, telco and broadcast, and biotechnology, Razif is passionate about the dynamics between business and the role that technology and government plays in its development.
Before joining MDEC, he was the Chief Operations Officer for Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd. During his tenure there, his scope included legal, human resources, administration and IT, marketing, and strategic partnerships and finance.
Razif has held various board and leadership positions in operating units and government agencies, the most notable roles being Executive Director at the Malaysian Business Angel Network (MBAN), Chief Operating Officer in Malaysian Genomics Resource Centre Berhad, and Senior VP for Malaysia Biotechnology Corporation.
Having led the management of large-scale tech development programmes such as Malaysia’s push into Biotech development in 2006 to 2012, Razif also acted as a technical adviser for the Malaysian Sustainable Energy Development Authority on aspects of the Feed-in-Tariff framework.
On top of having drafted telecoms and broadcast industry subsidiary legislation, Razif also consulted for renewable energy and cleantech startups to help them navigate the commercial-legal aspects of their business.
He also previously held advisory roles for multiple councils and industry authority boards including with UM Capital Berhad and the Malaysian Venture Capital and Private Equity Development Council (MVCDC).
